When looking to protect troops or law enforcement personnel that are facing life-threatening situations, having body armor that not only protects the user, but which also reduces the weight, significantly reduces heat stress, while enhancing combat performance in extreme temperatures is essential.

And having a system that can scale up or down and configured to the situation, from high-risk entries, linear assaults, vertical access, aerial platform, and rural operations that the user is facing, the goal is to reduce the weight that operators must carry is a major factor in planning and conducting operations.

The military has been issuing the 2nd generation Modular Scalable Vest (MSV) for several months to soldiers in the 82nd Airborne Division, but now there is another manufacturer who is making a plate carrier that now offers military and law enforcement professionals even better compatibility to the gear that operators will have to carry. It does this while giving them a one-of-a-kind plate carrier that has incredible load configurability and scalability.

PROJECT7 ARMOR part of the Aardvark Tactical based out of La Verne, California, has produced the Scalable Plate Rack (SPR), and provides the operator unmatched ballistic scalability and loadout configurability. The SPR provides the operator with an outstanding range of motion as it blends coverage with flexibility as the carrier has 24 different sizes that match up perfectly for each operator.

And the SPR is easily transformed from an entry vest to a plate rack that can be scaled up or down to fit the individual mission.

In a released statement about the new SPR, PROJECT7 founder Jon Becker said the company is excited about the release and believes that this will become the go-to carrier for military and law enforcement units.

“We are extremely excited to launch the new SPR. At its core, PROJECT7 is about letting operator feedback guide product development and creating designs that make our armor fit our users’ missions. The new SPR is the product of years of user feedback and testing. With SPR, we are able to not only offer ballistic scaling, but true mission-specific configurability.”

PROJECT7 ARMOR’s upgraded SPR features a hard-armor core, an extra-wide 7.5” soft-armor cummerbund, a removable soft-armor yoke, and upper arms, lower abdominal, groin, and spine protectors. The SPR also features an in-cummerbund Adaptive Pouch System with a unique quick and easy adjust system, kangaroo pouch with Kydex magazine retention inserts, and pry bar tool pouches. This provides the operator with the ability to carry mission-essential specific gear without losing MOLLE load-bearing surface.

The SPR provides a removable yoke system which provides ballistic protection for the shoulders and upper back as well as an attachment point for upper arm ballistics. Five interconnected internal radio routing channels optimize cable storage for ease of wear. The front of the vest also comes equipped with integrated load bearing attachment points, the SAPI sized rifle plate pouch is bottom-loaded, and a concealed tourniquet pouch.

The SPR has a padded spacer mesh design on the carrier’s shoulder which provides air flow for comfort as well as adjustability while a padded interior enhances ventilation throughout. The back of the platform also features a downed operator drag strap, 1PS single point sling anchors, reinforced MOLLE epaulets for sling and headset cables, and the operator’s choice between rip-stop or spacer mesh liner.

The upgraded SPR is equipped with PROJECT7’s new FLEX Loadout Configuration System, a customizable Velcro® and snaps system which allows operators to quickly change their loadouts and tailor them to mission requirements. Operators can choose the exact amount of  panels that are required for each mission and pre-load each panel to meet their mission requirements. As new or updated mission requirements change, the FLEX panels can be changed in just seconds. It is one of the easiest and most efficient loadout exchanges that is available to operators anywhere.

The SPR is now exclusively sold in North America by AARDVARK Tactical and only to government agencies. The new SPR features a SAPI-based rifle plate sizing system, is available in 24 sizes and 7 color combinations, and features webless or retro MOLLE with rip-stop or spacer mesh liners. Its patented three-piece cummerbund elastic is user replaceable to minimize downtime.
