Must Read

Several UN officials condemned the use of force by Kazakh leadership to quell the upheaval the country was experiencing last week. The group questioned Kazakh President Jomart Tokayev’s “shoot to kill” order and nonspecific use of the word “terrorism.” The Kazakh government’s account of the situation runs counter to the UN’s claims, but the Kazakhs have failed to produce much evidence of terrorism present. A video was circulated online of four masked gunmen claiming to be the “Kazakhstan Liberation Front” but commenters noted the men did not have a Kazakh accent and that Russia has a history of producing such propaganda videos.
