Why do we like tough, unyielding leaders? This question is addressed in a recent study that was just published in the Journal of Business Ethics. This instinct is influenced by cultural, religious, social, and familial variables, according to the primary author Agata Mirowska. Anyone who finds themselves supporting despotic dictators is advised to do so by Mirowska in the following manner: Reflect on your attraction, Focused on results, not personality, Assess if your endorsement is based on limited information, and Consider socially constructive ways to accomplish the same goals.
The study focused on three hypotheses explaining the enigmatic appeal of despotic rulers.
- Ideal leader’ prototypes
- Moral foundations
- Worldviews
