An effort to storm the German Bundestag and overthrow the government was discovered and thwarted, according to press reports.
Prince Heinrich XIII, a member of the German aristocracy, a former legislator and current judge for the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD), and the former leader of a special forces unit in the Bundeswehr were prominent figures among those detained. The plotters had already established a shadow government with ministers and the prince as its head of state, and they were publicly hiring among current and former security personnel. Investigators claim that Prince Heinrich XIII flew to Austria and Switzerland in order to solicit financial support from other German-speaking nobility. German officials made a call.
