A Bipartisan Group of the Senate have said that there has been an agreement regarding a gun and safety related measures. The possible bill has not been legislatively textualized as of yet, but the bill is looking include federal funding in order to encourage states to adapt new laws. The new legislation is being supported by 10 republican senators, which increases the likelihood that it could garner over 60 votes. The proposal includes the incentivization for implementation of “Red Flag” laws, funding for School safety and mental health resources, larger scrutiny for gun buyers between the ages of 18 and 21, and new federal penalties for already illegal “straw purchases.” The Federal government will look to incentive states into adapting new laws which allow for the law enforcement to take guns away from gun owners who they deem could pose a threat to themselves or others.
