4 Strategies to Secure a Corporate Board Seat | Harvard Business Review

Must Read

Keith D. Dorsey a managing partner and the U.S. practice leader of CEO and board services at Boyden assembled a group of 12 Black female public corporate directors.

Talking about their career paths and the recruitment process in order to better understand how persons who have previously been underrepresented on corporate boards were able to get their seats. His discussions revealed that boards and recruiters frequently seek for and pre-screen C-suite candidates that resemble present and former directors. This makes it even more important for candidates from underrepresented backgrounds to establish a strong social network made up of people who are familiar with them and understand their goals.

To do this, he suggests using the following four tactics:

  1. Showcase your capacity to create value

2 Get board exposure

  1. Act as your own greatest advocate
  2. Develop and maintain your network

  1. I blog often and I really thank you for your content. This great article has really peaked my interest. I am going to book mark your blog and keep checking for new information about once a week. I opted in for your RSS feed too.

  2. Its such as you learn my mind! You appear to understand so much approximately this, such as you wrote the book in it or something. I believe that you just can do with some percent to drive the message home a little bit, but instead of that, this is wonderful blog. An excellent read. I will definitely be back.

  3. You are so interesting! I don’t believe I have read anything like this before. So nice to find someone with a few original thoughts on this subject. Seriously.. thank you for starting this up. This web site is one thing that’s needed on the web, someone with a little originality.

  4. Having read this I thought it was extremely enlightening. I appreciate you taking the time and effort to put this informative article together. I once again find myself spending a lot of time both reading and commenting. But so what, it was still worth it!

  5. Great blog post. A few things i would like to bring about is that personal computer memory has to be purchased in case your computer can no longer cope with whatever you do with it. One can install two random access memory boards with 1GB each, as an example, but not certainly one of 1GB and one having 2GB. One should always check the company’s documentation for the PC to be sure what type of memory is needed.

  6. Everything is very open with a precise description of the challenges. It was really informative. Your website is extremely helpful. Many thanks for sharing!

  7. Thanks for the suggestions about credit repair on this excellent blog. Things i would advice people is always to give up the mentality that they may buy currently and shell out later. Being a society many of us tend to do that for many things. This includes getaways, furniture, plus items we wish. However, you should separate the wants from the needs. While you are working to raise your credit score you really have to make some sacrifices. For example you may shop online to save money or you can click on second hand outlets instead of costly department stores with regard to clothing.

  8. Next time I read a blog, Hopefully it does not disappoint me just as much as this one. I mean, I know it was my choice to read through, but I genuinely believed you would probably have something interesting to say. All I hear is a bunch of crying about something that you could possibly fix if you weren’t too busy looking for attention.

  9. I would like to thnkx for the efforts you’ve put in writing this site. I’m hoping the same high-grade website post from you in the upcoming as well. In fact your creative writing abilities has encouraged me to get my own web site now. Really the blogging is spreading its wings rapidly. Your write up is a great example of it.
