The Sound Running Cross Champs served as the last fitness test for several of the country’s top professional running teams in 2022.
Elite runners competed on an 8-kilometer looped route in the cross-country meet, which was held concurrently with The Running Event. The course included grass, dirt, and a few hay bales. Edwin Kurgat won after catching up to early leader Ollie Hoare and finishing in 23:27. Long-distance Olympian Alicia Monson won the women’s solo title by defeating 2015 world bronze medalist Emily Infeld in a close race in 26:55. After the outstanding achievements in the Texas state capital, Runner’s World met up with four elites to ask them about the toughest workouts that this year helped them achieve new heights of success.
