A good night’s sleep is one of the most critical optimization considerations, and it significantly influences the following day’s productivity. Focus on achieving a deep REM (rapid eye movement) sleep since waking up refreshed vs. exhausted will dramatically affect your conduct. Train yourself to abandon unproductive behaviors and habits. Ask yourself how you feel in the morning and prepare a list of activities that will boost your energy for the remainder of the day. Meditation is my go-to for this, and I exit when I feel rejuvenated.
When not feeling well, we prioritize simple chores above those that will give us the most leverage and change. A common trend many successful individuals fall into is working long hours and carrying that enthusiasm into the evening. If you have difficulty shutting off, speak with your partner and offer them permission to assist you in doing so after the task is over. Once these practices become routine, you will discover that you are regularly happier and more energetic.
