33 years ago, the US Army’s Elite Delta Force Pulled off its First Successful Hostage Rescue Mission | Business Insider

On December 20, 1989, early in the morning, Delta Force personnel surrounded a Panamanian prison housing a CIA agent. 

Muse’s rescue fell to 2 Troop, A Squadron of Delta Force. 23 Delta operators would be dropped off on the prison’s roof by four MH-6 Little Bird helicopters from the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment, also known as “the Night Stalkers.”  Muse was safely returned home thanks to the operation, which was carried out right before the US invasion of Panama. For the elite special missions force of the US Army, it was their first successful hostage rescue.
