With many joint operation areas involved and demonstrating the synchronization of capabilities across various domains, such as cyber, space, and public affairs, the 16th annual Emerald Warrior exercise gave Special Operations Forces realistic pre-deployment training.Â
The 16th annual Emerald Warrior exercise concluded at Hurlburt Field, Florida, on May 6, 2023. The exercise aimed to provide realistic pre-deployment training for Special Operations Forces, Conventional Force enablers, Partner Forces, and Interagency elements across various joint operating areas. Locations for this year’s exercise included Hurlburt Field, Homestead Air Reserve Base, and Puerto Rico. Five Reserve Citizen Airmen from the 28th Intelligence Squadron played a crucial role in the event, particularly in the Intelligence (J2) Fusion Cell’s work. The Fusion Cell disseminated information about a simulated earthquake in Puerto Rico, requiring the deployed Joint Special Operations Task Group and units to make strategic decisions. The exercise showcased the synchronization of capabilities across various domains, such as cyber, space, and public affairs, to provide operational effects and strategic advantage for AFSOF, allies, and partners. The Fusion Cell processed numerous information requests, injections, roll-ups, reports, and products. Additionally, the 21st Special Tactics Squadron completed pre-deployment qualifications and executed missions related to humanitarian assistance, integrated deterrence, and information operations/cyber.Â
