25 NC counties, including Wake, become an ‘unconventional warfare exercise’ site as Fort Bragg launches annual Special Forces test | CBS 17

A distinct assessment for the determined U.S. Numerous counties in North Carolina are now hosting an Army course for potential Special Forces members.


The “unconventional warfare exercise” known as Robin Sage pits the Special Troops recruits from Fort Bragg against adversarial forces in a made-up nation known as “Pineland.” 25 counties in North Carolina will participate in Robin Sage, which runs until November 5. Several of these counties are in the state’s central region, including Wake, Chatham, Cumberland, Harnett, Hoke, Lee, Moore, and Sampson. According to a news release from Fort Bragg, “community volunteers who serve as auxiliary actors will participate in and provide support as role-playing aspects throughout the exercise.” The last exam for candidates hoping to complete the United States Special Forces Qualification Course is called Robin Sage, and it lasts for two weeks. Fort Bragg is home to the Army John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School.
