US Coast Guard returns to Charleston after intercepting drugs valued at $57.1M | WPDE

After a 61-day patrol in the Caribbean Sea and Eastern Pacific Ocean and capturing drugs valued at $57.1M, the United States Coast Guard Cutter Stone arrived in Charleston on Friday. The crew was able to track two suspected narcotics trafficking ships, resulting in the recovery of roughly 2,246 pounds of cocaine and 4,870 pounds of marijuana. The cutter’s crew then handed up 20 alleged narcotics traffickers to the Seventh Coast Guard District and US Drug Enforcement Administration, indicating the end of a successful cooperative interagency operation in the Eastern Pacific.
