The US Navy patrol coastal ships Tempest and Typhoon discovered 1,400 AK-47 assault weapons and 226,600 rounds of ammunition in the North Arabian Sea from an unregistered fishing boat last December 20 while searching with onboard US Coast Guard troops. The vessel transporting the weaponry was eventually discovered to be stateless and on its way to Yemen. After that, the illegal weapon was transported aboard the guided-missile destroyer O’Kane. According to the Navy, supplying, selling, or transferring weapons to the Houthis directly or indirectly breaches UN Security Council Resolutions and US penalties.
