Jeffrey McKellop, a retired Green Beret, may be offered a plea bargain in the case where he has been accused of trying to stab police officer during the January 6th riot.

McKellop has been charged with assaulting an officer with a deadly weapon, entreating restricted grounds with a violent weapon among other charges. He pleaded not guilty in April to a total of nine charges.

Bodycam footage showed McKellop pushing uniformed officers and trying to grab one of their cannisters of riot-control spray.

McKellop argued for a pretrial release in October as he has already served 7 months with no trail date set. The legal actions related to January 6th have been especially slow as prosecutors are looking through piles of video evidence in most cases.

McKellop served for over 22 years, including four tours in Iraq, he is a 55 year old father.
