There has been recent turmoil in the English Channel as migrants are being smuggled illegally across the water in vessels that cannot survive the journey. Members of England’s Special Reconnaissance Regiment were activated to help French police forces curb the trade.
They may be working undercover to infiltrate the smuggler’s circles.
Last Wednesday, 27 migrants, from a camp in Dunkirk, drowned when their boat deflated. Migrants from inside the camps told the Sunday People that smugglers are still offering trips despite the latest series of incidents.
