Special-Ops Commander Endorses Indo-Pacific ‘Porcupine’ Defense Strategy against Beijing | National Review

General Richard D. Clarke said during the Halifax International Security Forum that he envisions special operations forces playing an outsized role in the American effort to strengthen defenses in the Indo-Pacific region.

A porcupine approach aims to bolster defenses such that enemies are dissuaded from attacking. The General was careful not to mention Taiwan specifically, but the statement is extremely relevant to the Island nation.

Special Operations Command has yet to acknowledge their activity in Taiwan but Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen confirmed an American presence in late October.
