Swift trans-Atlantic action kept Turkey from fueling Belarus’ hybrid attacks | Aykan Erdemir

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen stated on Twitter after her meeting with President Biden that the activity on the Polish-Belarusian border was not a migration crisis, but a form of unconventional warfare. Turkey has been accused of helping Belarus orchestrate a migration influx on the Polish border by flying refugees from the middle east to the border with the intention of causing havoc. Von der Leyen with the support of the European Union and USA, vowed to sanction third-country airlines that were involved in human trafficking. Turkey has since reversed course on their activity.

There has been increased tension in the area with Belarus taking the Russian side and Poland and the Baltic states siding with NATO and the EU.
