The United States should support partners in the eastern Mediterranean like Greece to put pressure on Turkey. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan threatened to expel 10 ambassadors from the country including the American one following a NATO summit which convened to discuss countering Russia’s aggressive efforts in the Baltic. Erdogan would walk back his threat, but his country’s navy has continually clashed with Greece over the discovery of natural gas repositories in the eastern Med. The Biden Administration has the opportunity to send a clear message to Turkey through channels of NATO authority.
