Green Berets Hone Their Destruction Of Enemy Air Defenses Skills For A Peer Conflict | The Drive

Must Read

The overarching focus of American special operations over the last two decades has been counterterrorism missions. Counterterrorism, while presenting its own unique set of dangers and challenges, tends to involve less technologically sophisticated enemies than those we would likely face in a hypothetical conflict with a near-peer adversary. Green Berets from the 7th Special Forces Group (Airborne) recently conducted training at Fort Polk, Louisiana that simulated enemy air attacks. The Green Berets and troops from the 101st Airborne Division knocked out enemy air assets and sabotaged a mock port facility. The last 20 years of operations have been primarily conducted in areas where the airspace did not feature many threats, but there is no such guarantee for a potential conflict with Russia or China.
