An Air Force spokeswoman confirmed Wednesday that Maj. Chase Darden, commander of the 8th Comptroller Squadron at Kunsan Air Base in South Korea, was relieved of duty on Oct. 15 after only four months on the job. According to Mi Chang, a spokesperson for the 8th Fighter Wing at Kunsan, Darden was removed “due to a loss of faith and confidence in his abilities” to lead the unit. It’s a catch-all statement that’s used to explain why a leader was deposed without going into detail. First Lieutenant Manervia McDonald, the squadron’s second-in-command, and financial analysis flight commander have been named interim commander.
