Synthetic chemical in consumer products linked to early death, study finds | CNN

According to a new study, synthetic compounds known as phthalates, which are found in thousands of consumer items such as food plastic boxes, cosmetics, makeup, fragrance, and children’s toys, may cause 91,000 to 107,000 early deaths per year in persons aged 55 to 64 in the United States. According to a study published Tuesday in the peer-reviewed journal Environmental Pollution, people with the highest levels of phthalates had a higher risk of death from any cause, especially cardiovascular mortality.
