British special operations groups, the SAS, the SBS, and the Special Reconnaissance Regiment are believed to have bought 150 Gepard GM6 Lynx weapon systems. The GM6 is a Hungarian made rifle with a range of 1.25 miles. Its barrel has a recoil mechanism to absorb the massive force similar to artillery weapons. Although powerful the GM6 is light enough to be carried by paratroopers into battle. It fires .50 caliber Raufoss Mk2 bullets and the 5 round magazine can be emptied in under 3 seconds.
