Review: Kel-Tec’s Radical P50 | The American Rifleman

Must Read

George Kellgren is the famed Swedish born designer of weapons like the TEC-9 and Kel-Tec KSG. He earned the American Rifleman’s Golden Bullseye Pioneer Award in 2019 for his long history of innovative and effective designs. More recently Kel-Tec has released a large-format semi-automatic pistol capable of delivering NATO standardized 5.7x28mm FN rounds, originally developed for use by the FN P90. The Kel-Tec P50 as the new weapon system is known contains a translucent, horizontally mounted, 50 round magazine capable of being hand loaded. Like the P90 the P50 uses a direct blowback action, its bolt riding on two guide rods that compress dual recoil springs as it moves backwards. The company’s tagline for the weapon is “Unique, Adaptable, Retro” and is being promoted as adequate for law enforcement, private security, and home defense use.
