US strike kills al-Qaida leader in Syria, ‘no indications’ of civilian casualties: CENTCOM | Military Times

U.S. Central Command relayed that U.S. forces eliminated a “senior al-Qaida leader” in Syria yesterday. Navy Lt. Josie Lynne Lenny, a CENTCOM spokeswoman said that “Initial indications are that we struck the individual we were aiming for, and there are no indications of civilian casualties as a result of the strike.” Lenny declined to identify the leader by name or disclose the method of strike carried out. Rescue workers and a war monitor described a drone strike that hit a vehicle traveling on a rural road in northwestern Syria killing one of the passengers.
