England’s Ministry of Defense has released a pre-procurement notice for a ‘uncrewed surface and subsurface vessel’. The vessel must be multi-payload, have a low signature, and long range per the notice. The system the ship would be a part of is being called the naval strike network, involving a mix of lethal uncrewed surface and underwater vessels, the new vessel being a hybrid of the two. The new vessel will likely be small enough to be carried by other ships, the notice describes a vessel small enough to fit inside a standard shipping container.
