Master Sgt. Keona Newsome of the 192nd Operations Group was relaxing with friends and family on a Sunday at a resort pool in Williamsburg, Virginia when she heard a loud scream coming from near the water. A mother had discovered her child motionless on the pool’s floor. Newsom and a friend immediately dove into the pool, retrieved the child, and began resuscitation procedures. After two cycles of CPR the child began coughing up water, but she faded again requiring one more round. By the end the child was responsive, and she is now looking forward to her 5th birthday.
