British military launches its own Space Command with official opening | UPI News

Britain’s Space Command was inaugurated on Friday in a formal ceremony, with duties divided among three organizations to form a combined space command, according to the Ministry of Defense of the United Kingdom. The British military budget includes $1.95 billion for space capabilities over ten years, as part of a $33.34 billion defense budget boost over the following four years. The new body, dubbed “U.K. Space Command,” will seize command and control of the nation’s Space Operations Hub, SKYNET military communications center, and ballistic early warning radar station at RAF Flyingdales in northeastern England, effective immediately.
