American Olympic Shooting athletes had a good showing in Tokyo claiming 3 golds in both Men’s and Women’s Skeet and Men’s Air Rifle. Vincent Hancock claimed his third gold medal in Men’s Skeet, becoming the first American to have done so. University of Kentucky student William Shaner claimed the first ever gold by an American in Men’s Air Rifle in Olympic record setting fashion. Colorado native, and Army Marksmanship Unit Member, Amber English also set an Olympic record in her gold-medal performance in Women’s Skeet. Her victory is especially satisfying considering she failed to make the Olympic team in 2012 and 2016, and her father, also an accomplished shooter, recently passed away.
