U.S. to begin evacuating Afghan helpers this month | Military Times

Must Read

By the end of this month, US officials will start evacuating Afghan partners to a safe third nation while their visa applications are completed. Later on Wednesday, President Joe Biden is set to publicly unveil the mission, named “Operation Allies Refuge.” The endeavor will be led by Tracey Jacobsen, a former US ambassador to Kosovo. Officers from the Defense Department and the Department of Homeland Security will also help with the relocation. The decision came despite mounting public demand to assist Afghan interpreters and other professionals who have served with US forces in Afghanistan for the past 20 years and are now facing growing threats as US soldiers leave the country.
