NATO launched an air campaign over Serbian forces in Kosovo in the spring of 1999 to put a stop to violations of human rights. Operation Allied Force was a NATO bombing campaign aimed at bringing Serbian ruler Slobodan Milosevic and his troops to a stop in Kosovo and forcing them to leave. While Delta Force, SEAL Team 6, and Coalition special-mission groups hunted down criminals on the field, US planes led the way in the air, but it wasn’t an easy challenge. In the end, Serbian forces have taken down two of the US’s most modern jets, an F-117, and an F-16, during the bombing. Thankfully, both US pilots were able to return home owing to a special team of US Air Force special operators.
