The Air Force’s effort to modernize its old special operations weather team airmen made a big leap last Thursday, following the graduation of the new job’s first apprentice course class. On Thursday, two new special reconnaissance airmen, seven combat controllers, and a special tactics officer finished from Pope Army Airfield in North Carolina. In an interview, Maj. Spencer Reed, commander of the 352nd Special Warfare Training Squadron at Pope, said that the event has relatively changed the game in establishing the new career area and changing how the Air Force executes reconnaissance missions.
