Please leave your guns at home for boot camp graduation, Parris Island officials say | Marine Corps Times

Must Read

Marine Corps’ boot camp commencement is a celebratory event, with budding young Marines actually having the chance to say goodbye to sand traps and quarterdecks. On this occasion, any red-blooded American may be tempted to follow Will Ferrell’s lead in “The Other Guys” and fire a few celebrations rounds from the family Colt .45. However, the Marine Corps Recruit Depot administration at Parris Island, South Carolina, is pleading with recently graduated Marines’ families not to carry weapons to the facility. MRCD Parris Island stated on Facebook on May 17 that since the reopening of boot camp graduations to the public on May 7, there has been an increase in families trying to smuggle weapons onto the grounds.
