The Pentagon stated Friday that the US would provide an additional $150 million to Ukraine to help the country strengthen its borders against Russia. According to a Defense Department announcement, the $150 million Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative “includes training, equipment, and advisory activities to help Ukraine’s forces protect the nation’s sovereign territory, defend its borders, and strengthen interoperability with NATO.” The funds were contingent on Ukraine’s progress on military changes and anti-corruption initiatives and were authorized by Congress for the fiscal year 2021.
