Official: US pledges $3.3 billion in funding for Afghan forces | VOA News

Zalmay Khalilzad, the US peace envoy to Afghanistan, convened with Afghan leaders in Kabul on Sunday with a high-level team to explore bilateral relations after US and allied forces exit the country by the September 11 timetable. Since the start of the foreign troop pullout a month ago, Taliban terrorists have increased combat assaults targeting government troops. According to Mohammad Amiri, the US ambassador assured Ghani that Washington would send $3.3 billion to Kabul over the next two years to help Afghan security forces against the Taliban.
