After a major drill previously this year, a US Air Force MC-130J Commando II special operations aerial refueler and transport jet mimicked the firing of a pallet of AGM-158 Joint Air-to-Surface Standoff Missiles or JASSMs. Even though no missiles were released, the agency was able to show the methods it would take when using a cargo plane changed into an “arsenal plane” during an actual operation, including sending targeting data to the MC-130J via numerous different nodes.
