Free health care for all troops is key priority, National Guard general tells Congress | Military.com

Must Read

The National Guard’s top officer told legislators that neglect of quick access to mental health services could be exacerbating the suicide issue, calling out that certain soldiers do not receive free medical care. With this, his focus is on providing health care to all Guardsmen. He also brought up the increasing number of suicides among National Guard members, claiming that better access to free health care could help mitigate some of the issues and urging Congress to intervene. His request to the Senate comes two weeks after he informed House members that the lack of free health insurance for Guardsmen is a significant problem that needs to be resolved.
