As part of an ambitious warfare exercise named Edge 21, the US Army recently evaluated a new, classified loitering munition. The latest loitering munition, which is classified, is a form of weapon known as a “suicide drone.” The missiles, officially known as Joint Man-in-the-Loop Loitering Munitions, were first located and then cued to their objectives using an experimental network of manned and unmanned aircraft. Edge 21, a two-week Army-led drill at Dugway Proving Ground in Utah that also included members of the US Air Force and Marine Corps, concluded lately.
