WWII was one of the grueling wars the US troops had been through. According to then-Army Air Forces pilot Warren Halstead, the V-E Day was an emotional day for the entire nation as the war came to an end in Europe. It may not have ended WWII, but it brought a memorable beginning. He also added that visiting those countries he fought over decades later brought on numerous emotions.
