‘No big thing’: NCO earns Soldier’s Medal after running into house fire to save woman and dog | Stars & Stripes

Sgt. 1st Class Jedidia Powell, a full-time Guard noncommissioned officer, has received the Soldier’s Medal for saving the lives of two women and a dog from a fire. Specifically, Powell repeatedly ran into a burning house to save the victims. When he was alerted of a nearby housefire, he ran to help with no emergency crew on the scene. His bravery earned him the Army’s highest award for bravery off the battlefield in a ceremony near Portland, OR.
