For the first time, women become Marines at San Diego Recruit Depot | Marine Corps Times

Fifty-three women just become official members of the Marines, making history as the first women to graduate from San Diego Recruit Depot. The new Marine members were able to complete the Crucible last Thursday morning, earning them the title of Marine. According to Brig. Gen. Ryan P. Heritage, the commanding general for Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, “This is the first time we are able to give Marines who graduate MCRD San Diego the same experience that their peers at Parris Island receive.”
