In Sweden, children as young as 12 can go on an adventure since the country allows anyone to ski, cycle, skate, swim, or camp almost anywhere. Yes, anyone, being a citizen of Sweden or not, can do such activities. In fact, some municipalities even lend out ice skates or toboggans or offer subsidized day trips to nature reserves during the week-long holiday. Given the country’s great outdoors, Sweden has lived with the concept of “live to roam” since medieval times.
