The Army Corps of Engineers has acquired two new boats, which they named after two fallen soldiers from Georgia. Specifically, the boats are named after Army Staff Sgt. Vernon W. Martin of Savannah and Army Spc. Christopher J. Holland of Brunswick. Martin died while fighting the Taliban in Afghanistan in October 2009, while Holland was a medic killed in December 2003 when his unit was ambushed in Iraq.
