In its efforts to acquire a new, all-terrain vehicle that can operate in the Arctic, the US Army has awarded two companies to provide prototypes for such vehicles. Specifically, the contracts were awarded to a team of two BAE System units, Land and Armaments, as well as BAE Hagglunds and a team of American firm Oshkosh Defense and the land systems division of Singapore’s ST Engineering. The companies are expected to provide the prototypes in the second quarter of fiscal 2021 and are set to undergo extreme cold-weather testing and evaluation in Alaska.
