The buck stops here: Hold high-ranking officers responsible for training accidents | Military.com

After a horrific accident that killed service members in a training tragedy last summer, it seems like generals and other high-ranking officials are now getting penalized for such accidents. Unlike before, where generals and admirals were often not held responsible for training accidents, the Marine Corps slow rolled out its self-investigation of the sinking of an amphibious assault vehicle, or AAV, naming some of the high-ranking officials that are accountable for the accident. The AAV sunk on July 30, 2020, and took the life of eight Marines and a Navy corpsman.
