Capt. Katie Hernandez, company commander of the 717th Ordnance Disposal Co., has broken the Guinness World Record for the fastest mile run by a woman wearing a bomb disposal suit. Hernandez did the record-breaking event at George Mason University last Saturday. The existing record was set by Army 1st Lt. Ashley Sorensen of the 303rd EOD Battalion in Hawaii in 2013. Hernandez broke the record by finishing the run at 10 minutes, 23 seconds. The bomb disposal suit used weighs more than 70 pounds.
