Over 500 million accounts on Facebook were exposed and their information available on a hacker website. While the information appears to be several years old, user’s phone number, full names, location, and more were available. This publication comes after Facebook has been called out for numerous privacy concerns in the past. In 2018 it came out that political firm Cambridge Analytica had accessed up to 87 million people’s phone number, and in 2019 a Ukrainian security researcher found a database containing information from over 267 million Facebook users, with many based in the US.
