The U.S. Army has awarded Barrett Firearms Manufacturing Inc. a $50 million contract for a new special operations sniper rifle. The deal is a five-year contract where Barrett Firearms Manufacturing Inc. will be supplying snipers with a multi-caliber sniper rifle, including 2,800 MK22 Multi-role Adaptive Design or MRAD, sniper rifles that can be chambered for .338 Norma Magnum, .300 Norma Magnum, and 7.62×51 NATO ammunition. The new rifle will be the replacement of SOCOM’s current M107 sniper rifle, which the same company makes.
