Served as a submarine chaser in the North Atlantic, the PC 1264 is a Navy-owned ship that was abandoned off the western shoreline of Staten Island. The ship was used for only 22 months, starting from October 1943 to February 1946. It began serving escort duty in 1944 and has provided escorts to shipping since then. Today, the ship sits in Arthur Kill, Staten Island, where it was left to destroy on its own. Eventually, the ship disappeared below the waterline.
