According to reports, the Department of Veterans Affair is set to remove a GI Bill rule this summer, potentially costing thousands of dollars a semester. Specifically, the “rounding out” rule will be phased out on August 1st. The current GI Bill rule allows students to round out college schedules with non-required classes. This means that a student can use the GI Bill to add extra credits to qualify to receive all the benefits that a full-time student is receiving, including housing allowance.
