This is because personalized medicine, otherwise known as functional, performance, or lifestyle medicine, is an approach that finds and treats underlying causes of illness or pain. According to the Institute for Functional Medicine, personalized medicine is a biology-based system approach that is mainly focused on finding and treating the root cause of a disease.
